Mini Bike Enduro Report

On Sunday 15 March 2009, Cowm Leisure Limited in association with Fiddy Parts ran round one of their Mini Bike Hare and Hounds Enduro series at Cowm Quarry,Whitworth. After a couple of weeks course building and last minute changes, everything was in place for the first race.

The format for the day was two, forty five minute adult races, with A and B Finals run on the mini bike track. A break of approximately thirty minutes was taken between each race. The course consisted of riding between the two mini bike tracks with quarry, moorland, tyres, flat stone pieces and a large excavated pit.

After each completed lap, competitors had to ride into the timekeeping section which was done by way of punch card. There were four punch card stations which were more than adequate. The winner was determined by completing the most laps over the 45minute duration. Every hole punched was equal to one lap. The riders on the day travelled far and wide, from Glouster, Worcestershire, Milton Keynes and Richmond (Yorks). From the comments received on the day, everyone was more than satisfied with the days racing.

A group winner Lee Kermode, romped away with a total of thirty nine laps over the two races. He was followed closely by second place rider Adam Barber. Third place went to (the rather nutty) Darren 'The Man' Hadshead.

In the B Final, it was also a close race with Jason Dignam taking the win from Craig Smith. Paul Middlehurst was Third.

Last but not least, Youth Rider Shaun Smith took the Youth Award.
